The sessions courts will be shifted to the Judicial Complex which has been constructed in accordance with international standards, from September 15. All the accountability courts would be moved to the District Courts Rawalpindi from Sept 20 after the process of shifting the sessions courts to the complex had been completed. Earlier, the sessions judges’ court was setup in a building which was occupied by the Punjab government on rent and was not accessible to the consumers. Similarly, several other courts were setup separately which caused inconvenience to the lawyers and the litigants alike. Besides accountability courts, special judge central, customs, consumer and drug courts would also be shifted to the District Courts Rawalpindi. The newly constructed Judicial Complex was inaugurated on July 16 by the Supreme Court Chief Justice. The complex contains around 52 well furnished and central air conditioned courts, which were constructed in accordance with international standards.
Meanwhile, the lawyers’ community and the citizens have expressed concerns over failure to shift several courts including four accountability courts and local courts to the judicial complex, adding that free and speedy justice would be provided to consumers, in case all the courts were shifted to the complex.
