Unidentified gunmen shot dead a superintendent of Quetta police in broad daylight on a busy road in the provincial capital on Friday. SP (Investigation) Jamil Khan Kakar and his gunman were on their way to the Balochistan High Court when armed men ambushed their vehicle in the Kili Gul Mohammad area on Airport Road, police said. The police official and his guard suffered serious bullet injuries and were being rushed to a hospital when Kakar expired. His guard was said to be out of danger at Civil Hospital Quetta.
Following the incident, Quetta CCPO Mir Zubair Mehmood and other officials rushed to the site and cordoned off the area to trace out the perpetrators. The slain SP was on way to appear before the Supreme Court Quetta Registry bench when he was attacked. A large number of citizens and relatives of the assassinated police official came out on the roads to protest against the killing.
