Deputy Commissioner Tando Muhammad Khan Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi Friday declared rain emergency in the entire district and called all officials of concerned department on duty with immediate effect.
Talking to media persons during his surprise visit at different pumping stations, he said that a total of 55 pumping machines have been installed in the district and all are in working condition.
Keeping in view the previous experiences, he informed that District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has been constituted and activated in the district. All required and necessary equipment either have been provided or being provided to DDMA enabling it to meet any eventuality of natural or man-made disaster.
In order to meet current monsoon season, he said that shift-wise duties of concerned staff has been assigned to ensure round the clock to help the citizens.
In addition to DDMA, the Deputy Commissioner informed that District Disaster Cell has also been established in his office and other taluks including Tando Muhammad Khan, Bulri Shah Karim and Tando Ghulam Hyder to supliment the efforts for protecting citizens from any kind of disaster.
Power shut down schedule for city: The management of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company Friday announced the schedule of power closure on September 10, 14, 17 and 21 from 8 am to 12 noon following the installation of Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC) and other necessary repair and maintenance work at 132 KV Qasimabad Grid Station.
According to HESCO spokesman, the areas of Muslim Society, Memon Society and Wahdat Colony connected with 11 KV GOR Feeder will be affected as a result of scheduled power closure.
Trial for tug of war team: Physical Education Director Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur Muhammad Murad Prizada on Friday has announced that the selection trials for tug of war (boys) team will be held at main university ground on September 11 at 10:30 am.
The selected players will participate in inter-collegiate tournament 2012-13. The interesting students are directed to contact the office of the director of physical education.
