Light and moderate rain was experienced in different areas in the metropolis on Friday morning.
The downpour was reported in the areas of Saddar, Clifton, Azizabad, Manzoor Coloney, Baldia, Orangi, North Nazimabad, Landhi, University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and in the surrounding areas. Many main streets and service lanes in the city were inundated with the rainwater causing problems to the flow of traffic. A Met office report issued on Friday said, “The rainfalls continued in intervals during the last 24 hours.
“Heaviest rain of 82 mm was recorded in Dadu while 49mm in Karachi Airport during the last 24 hours,” the Met office said. The weather advisor of Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast scattered rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls expected in Sindh on Friday and Saturday, said Weather Advisory on Thursday. The advisory said heavy rains would generate urban and flash floods in the vulnerable areas of the country. It also advised all concerned authorities to remain alert during the current week.
