Anti-literacy militants blew up a primary school for girls with explosives here in the wee hours of Friday. According to police, unidentified miscreants had planted explosives along the boundary wall of Government Girls’ Primary School No 4, located in the Shewa area of Swabi. As a result of the blast, the school building was partially damaged, but no casualties or injuries were reported, as the building was empty at the time of the blast, and was located away from the residential area.
This is very sad. The school girls of today will be the school teachers of tomorrow. Female students of medical sciences will be the lady doctors of tomorrow. Female patients are more comfortable with female doctors than with male doctors, particularly in purdah-observing areas like Swabi. Dear reader if you did it, please don't ever do it again and try to convince those who did it, not to do it again. US drones are not the only problem – our actions can be deadlier. Drone victems, almost 100% innocent, are martys but lets not add to the loss of innocent life, property and literacy activities.
