SP Investigation gunned down in Quetta; murder sparked protest

A high police official Jameel Kakar was gunned down and his one guard injured in the city’s area of Airport Road on Friday morning, police said.
According to details, some unidentified miscreants ambushed SSP Investigation Jameel Kakar to death near his house located in Kaly Gul Muhammed in Airport Road as he had just started driving his way to the Supreme Court’s Quetta Registry.
Police after putting security cordon around the area, kick-started search operation for the killers.
According to police, Kakar received several bullets, two of them in his head as well; he was being shifted to hospital however, he could not succumb to injuries.
It should be mentioned here that Jameel Kakar was slated to get his statement registered before a three-member bench of the apex court hearing an important case regarding the law and order situation in Balochistan.
Talking to media on the mishap site, CCPO Quetta Mir Zubair said Jameel Kakar is the 17th police officer killed within three months, adding, “However, we are functioning with high morale and will continue giving more sacrifices for the nation.”
Vowing to continue playing a definitive role under any condition, the police officer asserted, “We will win this war being waged against terrorism.”
Jameel Kakar, he further added, was doing his duty in Sariab Road city of the area, when he was killed as he was moving towards the court in uniform.
He was the leader of an active contingent of police and had no fear at all, Mir Zubair said adding he is quite proud of his courageous police officer who laid down his life for the country.
Replying to a query regarding the details of the incident, he said saying anything in this regard will be premature at this time; investigations are in progress to ascertain the facts.
Jamil Kakar was posted at Saryab Road Police Station SP investigation and due to the sensitive nature of his job, he received numerous death threats.
Meanwhile, scores of people took to roads against the murder of a senior police officer, Jameel Kakar, in Quetta city’s Airport Road area after the incident.
A large number of residents in Airport Road area staged protest demonstration, burning tyres on the main road and chanting slogans against the government. The infuriated protestors called upon authorities to bring the culprits to book.
The demonstrators dispersed when CCPO Quetta, Mir Zubair, and other senior police officers came there to negotiate with them and held out the assurance that the culprits would soon be arrested.
