At least six people were reported killed in rain related incidents, as the late monsoon spell continued to lash the country on Thursday.
Three persons of a family died and two others got injured when a roof of a veranda collapsed due to heavy rain Peshawar on Thursday, police said.
The incident occurred at Bana Marri when the family of Musharaf was trapped under the debris of veranda roof. As a result Hama, Farooq and Farhad, children of Musharraf Khan, died while two others sustained critical injuries. On the other hand, the district administration and officials of Rescue 1122 started relief operations after water inundated low lying areas including, Budanay, Latifabad, Nodhia, Kohati and some villages situated on the main Warsak Road due to heavy downpour.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rescue teams recovered bodies of three more persons who were swept away by flashflood while crossing a stream in Machyara area of the region on Thursday. At least 17 people, including two women and four children, were swept away by flood water due to heavy rains in Machyara, Naseerabad areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday.
Rescue teams recovered four bodies on Wednesday while a search operation continued in which three more bodies were recovered on Thursday. The search for remaining 10 was in progress.
Meanwhile, heavy rain lashed various parts of the country turning the weather pleasant, besides flooding several low lying areas and inundating streets and houses. Per details, several cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan received heavy showers late on Wednesday and early on Thursday, turning the weather pleasant.
However, the rain also created problems for people living in low lying areas as water entered their houses. Citizens of the affected areas criticized the authorities for lack of proper sewerage system. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted more rains in upper parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
