Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled a terror bid by killing a militant and seizing 105 kilograms of explosive material in the Bara Sheikhan area of the provincial capital. According to police officials, a team of policemen stopped a pushcart vendor on suspicion, but he opened fire at them.
In retaliatory firing, police shot him dead. Officials said that an accomplice of the cart vendor hurled a hand grenade at the police team, and managed to escape. The senior superintendent of police (SSP-Rural) told reporters that police had seized at least 105 kilograms of explosives from the pushcart.
