Pir Pagara’s Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, on Friday, announced to part its ways with the PPP-led Sindh government in protest against promulgation of new local body ordinance.
In a press conference in Karachi, PML-F party members Imtiaz Sheikh and Mujeeb Pirzada said that in a meeting with Pir Pagara, the party decided to resign from the provincial government since the PPP failed to address their grievances against the Sindh Local Government Ordinance.
The ordinance, which was signed by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, brings into place a new system called the Peoples Metropolitan Corporation 2012. The PML-F ministers have already submitted their resignations to Pir Pagara.
The Awami National Party (ANP) also called back its only minister in the Sindh government earlier in the day and boycotted the National Assembly session.
Minister Ameer Nawab submitted his resignation to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah who rejected it in hopes of wooing back ANP.
