In order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, the Punjab government has approved the Pirwadhai More Flyover and Underpass project which would be launched next month.
The flyover and underpass project would be constructed in phases and will be completed in 120 days each. Moreover, the Planning & Development Department of Punjab has approved Rs 1,617 million for the project.
A meeting in this regard was chaired by P&D Chairman Aslam Javed and attended by Superintendent Engineer C&W Farhat Munir, SDO Navid Ashraf, Brigadier Shahid Manzoor of National Logistics Cell (NLC) and other officials.
Engineers believe that the traffic between Rawalpindi-Peshawar would become signal free with the completion of the project and will significantly resolve traffic issues besides adding to the beauty of the city. Construction work on the 567-meter long bridge, Pirwadhai More Flyover, and 445-meter long underpass is expected to start in October. The NLC, an army-run contractor, would build the project that has already constructed Chandni Chowk Flyover.
Traffic coming from Peshawar to Rawalpindi will use the flyover while traffic heading towards IJP Road from the city would use the underpass.
