Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has strongly condemned the decision of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) to allow private medical colleges to raise their tuition fee by 20 percent, thus raising it to 600,00 Rs per annum. This is highly objectionable as private medical colleges were already charging exorbitant fees. The medical community has serious reservations about the dissolution of PMDC and considers it malaise as it seems that the purpose of this has been to look after the interests of private medical colleges and not the doctor’s community in general. This has now become evident by this permission. PIMA called upon PMDC to immediately take back this decision and urged the federal government to stop the transitional ex committee of PMDC from taking important decisions in such an arbitrary fashion and to leave such matters to a properly elected council.
PIMA also appealed to all doctors’ bodies to raise their voice against this ugly decision.
