Pakistan’s former fast bowler and ex-captain Waqar Younis is not sure whether the Australian pace legend, Dennis Lillee will be a successful online coach. Lillee, who ran India’s the MRF pace foundation in Chennai for 25 years before handing charge to compatriot Glenn McGrath earlier this week, said he wanted to continue sharing his knowledge with young cricketers. “He might or might not succeed as an on-line coach”, Younis, who has been a Ten Sports commentator here for the Pakistan-Australia matches, said Waqar. “Lillee is a huge name in fast bowling coaching and may have decided to hire the latest technology and method but I don’t know how far it would work. The game of cricket is played not played on laptops. I have played ample cricket, and learnt a lot from the ground and sitting out on the bench”, the 41-year-old Waqar Younis added. Lillee may also use Skype for the paid online coaching service. The software that Lillee is likely to use will help him analyse problems faced by a bowler after receiving images of his run-up, bowling action and delivery stride. Every small detail of the image will be examined and an analysis made, which will then be sent back to the bowler. “The new man, Glenn McGrath is a good choice to head the MRF. One legend has replaced the other, I must say”, Younis concluded.
