The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday, granted interim bail to Hanif Abbasi, an MNA associated with Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) who was accused of being involved in the misuse of the controlled chemical ephedrine, till Sept 12.
The division bench heard the petition filed by Abbasi to grant him an interim bail. The court granted bail to the MNA after ordering him to pay Rs 200,000 as surety for bail.
Earlier, Abbasi was granted protective bail on August 13 in the ephedrine quota case by the Sindh High Court which would expire on Sept 7.
ANF had registered on July 29, a case against Hanif Abbasi for his alleged involvement in the misuse of ephedrine.
According to ANF sources, the case was registered against the PML-N MNA for misusing 500kg of ephedrine.
The ANF has contacted the Cabinet division to obtain records of the orders given by the Former Secretary Narcotics Zafar Iqbal Lak pertaining to the ephedrine case.
