Bagh-i-Jinnah becomes haven for over-pricing

Complains against shopkeepers at Bagh-i-Jinnah (Lawrence Garden) for charging up to 100 percent more than the prescribed rate list issued by the authorities are falling of deaf ears of the concerned officials.
According to sources, the list of over priced good includes chips, biscuits, burgers, soft drinks, mineral water, tea and various other edible and non edible items. Visitors to the park often complain of being sold substandard food items as well. People have demanded the authorities concerned to take action against the violators of the official rate list.
Talking to reporters an official said that the administration takes stern action against those shopkeepers who are found involved in selling substandard items or overcharging. However a vendor at the park admitted to overcharge and said, β€œIt is difficult for us to sell items at the open market rate as rents of the stalls are higher compared to markets rents.”
The visitors have also complained about the entry fee being charged at the parking lot although the government has annulled charging of parking fee at public parks.
