Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will be included in the ongoing investigations by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in the Rs 7 billion Ephedrine drug scam. According to ANF sources, Gilani would be included in interrogation because of illegally appointing Zafar Iqbal Lak as Anti-Narcotics secretary. Gilani promoted Zafar Iqbal Lak from Grade 21 to 22 as anti-narcotics secretary after the surfacing of the ephedrine scandal.
Sources said that after becoming secretary, Lak tried to influence the investigations in a bid to protect former PM’s son Ali Musa Gilani, and kept on meddling in the ANF’s affairs. According to sources, the ANF, after formally nominating Zafar Iqbal as an accused in the case, has obtained the warrants for his arrest.
