A five-member Pakistani team of young scientists participated in the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) 2012. The two-week long forum from August 16-29 was organized and hosted by Imperial College London. Fatima Sajid of Army Medical College Rawalpindi, Zainab Sohail and Omer Maqsood of NUST, Awais Ahmed of University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Fahad Sohrab of FAST University Peshawar participated in the event on the initiative of the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and under the patronage of the Ministry of Science and Technology. PSF Spokeswoman Rehana Batool told reporters that the theme of this year’s forum was “The Human Planet”. The Pakistani delegation met delegations hailing from 50 countries of the world, in addition to attending lectures, visits to science and natural history museums and research work in laboratories of Roth Amsted, Oxford, Cambridge and CERN universities. Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London Wajid Shamsul Hasan hosted the delegation over tea at the Pakistani High Commission.
