Govt pursuing 3D policy on national security: Malik

Federal Minister for Interior, Senator A. Rehman Malik on Thursday underlined government had been pursuing 3D policy on national security which now needs to be enhanced in view of growing security challenges.
Federal Minister for Interior, Senator A. Rehman Malik expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad in which law and order situation was reviewed and directions were issued to exercise extreme vigilance in Islamabad.
He appreciated IG Islamabad and his team for keeping security in Islamabad. He has also directed to ensure that all guest houses, hostels and hotels do not allow people without proper verified identity.
Entry points must remain covered properly as per the given security SOP. He also directed the IG to take special care of Chinese working in Islamabad and outskirts of Islamabad. He also directed the Secretary Interior to convene a meeting on the security of Chinese working in Pakistan to be presided over by the Interior Minister himself.
The government had been pursuing 3D policy on national security which now needs to be enhanced in view of growing security challenges.
In the light of the above, a team has been constituted headed by Chief Commissioner Islamabad to work out a draft national security document advising to deal with the growing security challenges in the country.
The team will include one Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Interior, an officer from NACTA, a Deputy Inspector General level officer from National Police Bureau and one officer from National Police Bureau. DG NCMC will be the Secretary of the team.
The team is directed to consult all experts in security, the experiences of other countries, their security policies and any other assistance from any quarter.
This report shall be presented by next Wednesday.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of investigation regarding Rimsa Masih and he desired that a senior officer be put as head of Investigation Team.
SSP Tahir Alam was made head of team. The investigation will be duly supervised by a District Magistrate. SSP Tahir Alam will submit daily progress report of the investigation to the District Magistrate. Chief Commissioner has been directed to take into confidence the Islamabad Ulema Council and share the investigation completely and transparently on board and keep the entire progress of investigation.
