Bird strikes, faults ground 16 PIA planes

The number of planes grounded by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has risen to 16 after another passenger aircraft was hit by a bird in Lahore on Wednesday. According to PIA sources, out of 39, 16 planes are not operational due to non-availability of spare parts. Sources said that a bird crashed into Kuala Lumpur-bound PIA flight during take-off at Lahore Airport early on Wednesday morning. The plane was grounded. In addition, technical faults and bad weather condition in northern areas and Islamabad led to cancellation of 10 national and international flights. While another 20 flights had to face long delays.
