Tug-of-war between Punjab Teachers Union and City District Government Rawalpindi has intensified after challenging non-academic duties being taken from male and female teachers in the court.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar called Ausaf Ahmad Satti and other teachers to his office and asked them to withdraw the said petition before the next hearing.
He also threatened educators of sacking them besides nonpayment of pension if the petition was not withdrawn.
Upon threats from the DCO, teachers unions to press CDGR for their demands announced to stage protest on September 13 in front of the DCO office.
Teachers’ unions have filed a petition in High Court Rawalpindi Bench stating that forced duties other than academic including polio immunization and census were taken from teachers which affect education of the children.
It should be mentioned here that teachers’ refusal from performing polio duties could affect immunization drive in the garrison city.
