Star all-rounder of Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi has failed to perform well in the one-day series against Australia and consequently, cricket lovers have demanded his retirement from international cricket.
The Pakistani game-lovers have proposed ‘modelling’ as an ideal alternate profession for Shahid Afridi, once pronounced ‘Boom Boom’ by his fans.
According to details, Afridi was expected to perform well in the recently held series against Australian cricket team, however, he got out for a duck while batting in the first one-day match and in the second, he was able to score only seven runs.
Not only this, but in the 20 overs he bowled in two matches, he conceded 99 runs and could bowl out only a single Australian batsman.
Sources said the bowling of Shahid Afridi, known for variety in spin bowling could not trouble his opponents and even in the third and decisive match of the series, he conceded 62 runs without taking a wicket.
His fielding performance was no different and in the third match of the series he dropped a catch, which could have been a turning point in the game.
Moreover, in the last seven one-day matches, Afridi could score only 35 runs, sources said.
Sources further said Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Chaudhary Zaka Ashraf decided to select Shahid Khan Afridi in the team on political pressure and the selection committee endorsed the decision.
According to analysts, good decisions are made not under pressure but through impartial selection.
The selection of the ‘ favorites’ in the Pakistani team has mounted pressure on the players on the whole, they added.
On the other hand, the spectators have demanded that Afridi should be ousted from the Pakistani team by accusing him of ‘lobbying’.
Go go Afridi…..
Oh for crying out loud. He's having a bad year. So what?! Let me ask you this. Who would want to watch Pakistan play cricket if he wasn't in the team? Let me remind this man picked 50 wickets in ODI's last year. He led Pakistan to the Semi-finals amid the spot-fixing scandal. I wouldn't be surprised if you changed your tune if he has a good T20 WC. Think about it he has to deal with more pressure than any cricketer in the history of the game. His recordbreaking innings in 1997 continues to haunt his batting performance because he constantly has to entertain the crowd. Whoever wrote this article should try playing in front of thousands people and scoring even 10 runs and tell me it's a piece of cake.
Also he's not the only one who has had a bad couple of matches. Hafeez is struggling with the bat. Misbah is struggling both with bat and the captaincy. Umar Gul who is Pakistan's spearhead had to be dropped from the ODI team. Let's not forget when was the last time any of these players had a proper break from cricket. Pakistan has played non-stop for a while now. They need to do what South Africa and England. Play limited matches.
So stop spreading negativity!
Biased and Unreal…. May be people are a bit annoyed but they can't demand retirement….
afridi will come bk stronger hes a true patan warrior
??? When did we demanded? Fake Article. no such news like that. A player gets a bad patch. So what? i'm not a fan of shahid afridi. but let me get this straight, there is not such hype in here (PAKISTAN). we don't want him to retire. we want MISBAH to retie. Shahid afridi a match winner.
afridi should go now its time for him to go he cant play any more because of him we lost third match with Australia i strongly believe he should go home and give chance to some new players we have lots of more talent.
what the hell this means , its ok he is struggling with the bat but he has been a match winner with a ball it was only last year he ran into srilankan batting line up to give pakistan series win with 13 wickets. Every player has bad days but it doesn’t mean he should retire , its so foolish in sub continent that its the same player we love like mad peoples and if he had a bad series or to we demand retirement and i must our media also has to grow up and should not behave childishly for what a cricketer has to go through in his career in subcontinent. Leave a part cricket every other sportperson has to go through bad days
correct………. HE SHOULD BE.
Misbah also
Go go Afridi….

when you're hot you're hot, when you're not you're not
when and how pakistantoday conducted this survey??
Perform or quit..
shouldnt give a damn about what the fans say, they'll back him if he scores a fast paced 50 in the coming games
We are a nation looking for “”IDEALS””. Looks are more important to us than anything else, Afridi has survived a long time on looks and charisma only, performance wise he should not be on the team, any team, test, ODI, T20.
Fazool website hai
afridi will be come in form and will perform best as soon and he can play more cricket
Afridi, MISBAH both should now leave cricket decently by themselves.
How many chances M Sami and Younas Khan got. Just recently he was man of the series in ODI series against srilanka
afridi will be come in form and will perform best as soon and he can play more cricket best of luck lala I LOVE U AFRIDI
there is no need to be retire of any player. If a player is match winner he should perform like a match winner. Afridi need just practice on spinners of googly, doosra, teesra etc. He should first concentrate on bowler’s finger. And one thing, captain should be a senior player like afridi and malik. And try to use every player at their proper time. Maximum 2 chances should be limit to performer well. If falls, place another on that place. A.razak should be bring. Open records of his, he is the key of success.
