Noted religious leader may be involved in Rimsha Masih case

The scope of investigation into Rimsha Mashih case has been extended and a noted Rawalpindi religious leader is likely to be questioned in this connection.
The move has been initiated following recording of more evidence against Maulana Khalid Jadoon.
Well-placed sources said government agencies were probing why Ramna police had registered the case without even meeting the legal formalities. Legal experts are of the view that in such sensitive cases, the opinion of law section of police department was solicited, but no heed was paid to the opinion and it was overlooked in this case.
The sources said police was shifting the burden of the case to Maulana Khalid Jadoon to protect their fellow cops.
Per available information, the name of an important religious leader is being mentioned in the case. The cleric is allegedly stated to have motivated Mumtaz Qadri to kill former Punjab governor Salman Taseer. The sources said Maulana Khalid Jadoon had planned eviction of Christian families from their homes at the behest of this religious leader from Rawalpindi.
A religious madrassah was to be built and a plot was to be gifted to Rawalpindi religious leader out of this land. But the plan met failure following the statement by Hafiz Zubair against Maulana Khalid Jadoon. Meanwhile, members of the National Assembly on Tuesday requested the government to put an end to misuse of the blasphemy law and sought release of Rimsha Masih.
