Widespread rains and isolated heavy falls are expected in various parts of the country, including the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad along with Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, from Thursday and would continue till Sunday. According to an Advisory issued by the Chairman of Federal Flood Commission Asjad Imtiaz Ali on Tuesday, a monsoon low pressure area has developed over the Northwestern Bay of Bengal and the adjoining areas of Orisa Coast (India), this weather system will move westward resulting in strong monsoon winds in various parts of the country from Thursday to Sunday.
As a result, widespread monsoon rain with some heavy downpour may generate flash flooding in urban centers and vulnerable areas in the above mentioned period. In the federal capital and various parts of Punjab, scattered rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected on Wednesday, whereas widespread rain/thundershowers with scattered heavy falls may occur in Punjab from Thursday to Sunday (September 6 to 9).
