The citizens of Lahore have expressed grave concern over an increase of Rs50 on a 20kilogram flour bag and its subsequent non availability at the utility stores around Lahore city.
It is important to mention here that a 20kg flour bag was earlier sold at Rs570 but soon after Eid-ul-Fitr its prices were increased.
With the recent increase of Rs50 the price of a 20kg flour bag had reached to Rs 620. Despite the increase in prices, flour was not available at the utility stores of Lahore.
When contacted in this regard, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) said flour mills had stopped supplies which had created a flour shortage at the utility stores. However, USC authorities said that the smooth supply of flour would be ensured soon after talks with the Pakistan Flour Mills Association were finalized as they were demanding an increase in the prices of flour after the recent increase in petroleum prices.
