Twin Cities Transport Union office bearers will decide whether to go on a wheel jam strike today (Tuesday) in the wake of fluctuating price of CNG and petroleum products as they demanded increase in public transport fares. The office bearers said that it was not possible for the transporters to operate on the current fares, adding that POL prices were on the rise. Besides CNG filling stations remained closed three days a week under national load management program. “Petrol is also not available for two days in a week at filling stations and we have to run our vehicles on petrol,” they added. The Mutahidda Transport Union President Sultan Awan said that transporters were left with no other option but to park their vehicles as they could not make enough money to make both ends meet due to skyrocketing inflation and the rising prices of POL products. On the other hand, citizens said that public transport fare was already very high and they said that the further increase in fares by transporters was unfair as new revised fare list was issued for the public transport plying among twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
