Over 27,000 move to next round of level one

As many as 27315 youngsters moved into the next round of their level o competition while participating in all the seven events of the Punjab Youth Festival’s Neighbourhood and Village level on Monday. On the ninth day of the festival, another 150,000 youngsters of various Sports and Youth Development Councils of Punjab displayed their skills in the first level of the PYF 2012.
After a massive activity on Sunday in different sports events of the festival including athletics, volleyball, billiard, cricket tape ball, badminton, arm wrestling, the other two general categories of naat khawani and qirat too are getting proper response and these events are also being held at madaris, masjids, schools and colleges.
Today’s interesting feature was the competition of arm wrestling between Dr Saeed Elahi MPA and DCO Lahore Noorul Amin while Ramzan Saddique MPA witnessed the events at Gulberg Town’s venue of Ghalib Market in the morning session.
Data collected from other districts of the province show that around 100,000 S&YDCs members took part in 447 events of the neighbourhood and village level. In these events 35 districts took part through their 4929 blocks of 1200 UCs while 27315 got top honours.
In the districts of Bhakkar8042 took part in 15 event and 2194 won their matches, Mianwali had 9524 people participation while from 103 UCs 2641 were the winners. Nankana Sahib 139 UCs’ 597 blocks took part in 78 events with a mass involvement of 5767 with the winners being 2896. In Bahawalpur, 45 UCs and 138 blocks excelled in 34 events and from among 9127 participants 3017 moved to the next round of the first level. Likewise, Dera Ghazi Khan had 11892 people participation while Muzaffargarh 16837 youngsters from 97 UCs contested and 1408 were the main contenders who moved ahead.
Faisalabad again remained very active in their participation as 3697 took the top honours from 13927’s participation in 54 events from 625 blocks of 134 UCs.
In Shalamar Town of Lahore, athletics competitions were held between Union Council 34, Block 13 under which Sadaqat won the 100 metres race while Umer bin Sadaat was declared winner of the 200 metres race.
In the cricket tape ball, Union Council 35, Block 6 beat block 4 whereas Block 5 and 6 won the Cricket Tape ball matches of Union Council 34. In the Arm Wrestling event, Umer Bin Sadaqat beat Faizan of Union Council 34 Block A. In the Union Council 143, Block 1, Athletics events were held in which Ahmed took the 100 metres race.
In the cricket tape ball) matches of Union council 143, Block A beat block C by 10 runs while in Union Council 58, Suhail XI achieved limelight against Agha XI by 1 wicket.
In Samanabad Town, Union Council 103, Tug of Warteam comprising Shafiq, Usman and Zaheer won the tie 2-0. In the 100 metres race, Hafiz Abdur Rehman won the race while Hafiz Usman took 200 metre race. In Billiard, Mohammed Ashfaq beat Abid while Masood Ahmed and Hashaam Afzal won their badminton double matches against Anis and Rehman 20-17.
Similarly in Cricket Tape ball, Ittehad XI defeated Seth XI by one wicket and in Arm Wrestling, Ali Shafique beat Nabeel Bajwa with ease.
