The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the Punjab government to postpone purchase of 1,200 foreign buses till further orders. A bench of LHC headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the petition filed by Gujranwala Tour Company against the Punjab government. The petitioner’s lawyer Tafazal Rizvi told the court that the provincial government plans to sell imported buses to transporters on installments. He added that the buses have Toyo engines and the euro quality diesel available in Pakistan would minimize the life of engines. He added that the court should order cancellation of the government’s decision of purchasing new buses. The court issuing stay orders, directed Punjab government to submit a reply by September 17.
