Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has cut off electricity connections of the offices of federal ministries in addition to Pak Secretariat.
The decision was taken after the Minister for Electricity and Power Chaudhary Ahmed Mukhtar directed the authorities to cut electricity connections of all the defaulters without any discrimination.
He said strict measures would be taken against the defaulters to ensure receipt of electricity bills.
As a result, the provision of electricity to the Pak Secretariat, ministry of commerce, ministry of petroleum and natural resources, and planning commission was interrupted.
Sources said Secretariat owes arrears of Rs 1.7 billion to the ministry of electricity and power.
It is pertinent to mention that Capital Development Authority is obliged to pay the electricity bills on behalf of Pakistan Secretariat.
