Two-day meeting of ECO parliamentarians in Islamabad

Parliamentarians from Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries will arrive in Islamabad to attend a two-day meeting of ECO Parliamentarians, to be held from Tuesday onwards.
The ECO parliamentarians will deliberate upon and approve the proposed draft charter of (to be formed) Parliamentary Association of Economic Cooperation Organization (PAECO).
The charter would be formally adopted in the meeting of the speakers/presiding officers of the ECO member countries’ parliaments to be held in Islamabad, later this year.
The establishment of PAECO is an initiative of Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly on the pattern of SAARC Speaker’s Forum and Parliamentary Union of Organization of Islamic Countries (PUOIC). This parliamentary forum has been envisaged to institutionalize collaboration and interaction between parliaments of ECO member countries.
Parliamentarians from Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and secretary general ECO will attend the meetings.
