Due to the negligence of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), swings and slides at a play land located near the Islamabad Zoo are in a dilapidated condition.
Most of the swings and slides in the play land had been lying broken for some and the civic body had not paid any attention towards the matter.
Citizens told news agencies that Rs10 were received from adults and Rs5 from children below 12 years of age by the play land management, but most of the swings and slides were broken mainly because the electric swings were provided by a private contractor. According to them, the contractor charged Rs20 to Rs30 for a single ride on these electric swings.
It should be mentioned here that most of the swings and slides in almost all public parks of the federal capital were reported to be in a miserable condition and children were left with no other option but to stay at home. Those who try to enjoy these swings usually get injured in the process.
Visitors complained that a large number of people came to Islamabad to see the sights, but they had to pay extra charges to get on the different rides. They said that entry fee should be demolished at the play land and the standard of the swings and slides should be improved to provide cheap entertainment to the children.
They also said that the CDA was considered one of the best in its line of work, but now it was similar to any other civic body of the country after lowering its standard.
Citizens of the federal capital demanded from the CDA to provide good facilities to them at all the public parks in return of the taxes paid to the civic body by the citizens.
