Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan on Sunday said incidents of targeted killings were a result of the government’s ineligibility and cowardice. Addressing a public gathering in Skardu, Imran said he would take on the “ineligible and corrupt group of rulers” and take measures for the empowerment of people. The PTI chief praised the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, saying they were full of character and their land rich in natural resources. Takking to reporters in Islamabad later, Imran condemned the killing of Shia Hazara people in Balochistan and called them a planned genocide of the community. He questioned why had the leadership and members of criminals not been identified and arrested. “This shows a failure of intelligence both civil and military, complete helplessness bordering on indifference of the Balochistan government and criminal neglect by the federal government,” he added. “There is suspicion that elements within working on the behest of those outside may deliberately be trying to create widespread sectarian conflict. This is a matter that requires extreme vigilance of the state,” Imran said.
