Two breaches in Shahmines Canal ruined rice crops cultivated on hundreds of acres of land besides flooding several villages here on Sunday. According to details, the breaches took place at 5am in the morning when two wreaks of 23ft and 35ft emerged in Shahmines Canal.
Rice crop on hundreds of acres of farms was destroyed due to water and several villages in the surrounding lower lying areas were inundated.
Concerned officials of the irrigation department despite informed timely reached the scene hours late after getting information. The local farmers and dwellers of the area on self help basis started efforts to repairs the breaches.
