Two more witnesses after Maulvi Hafiz Zubair recorded their statements against Imam Khalid Jadoon in the Rimsha Masih blasphemy case.
Hafiz Owais and Khurrum Shahzad in their statements supported Maulvi Hafiz’s claim that Khalid Jadoon had tampered with evidence.
According to the police, Jadoon has now been added to the charge sheet as an accused in the case. The charge sheet will be presented before a trial court on September 14.
Police arrested Chisti on Saturday after a member of the cleric’s mosque accused him of stashing pages from the copy of the holy Quran in the girl’s bag to make it seem like she burned pages containing verses from the holy book.
Chishti has denied the allegation.
Police said Chishti could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of desecrating the holy Quran.
Meanwhile judge Muhammad Azam Khan has rescheduled Rimsha Masih’s bail hearings until September 7.
