PPP contacts allies to make DI Khan, Tank part of Saraiki province

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership has accelerated contacts with coalition parties to include Dera Ismail Khan and Tank in Saraiki province. According to reliable sources, senior PPP leaders have made contact with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman and the Awami National Party (ANP) leadership with a proposal to make DI Khan and Tank part of Saraiki province as most of the population of the two districts speak Saraiki language. Sources said that Fazl has shown flexibility over the option but said that he would be able to take a decision after consulting with his party leadership. However, the sources said that the ANP leadership has expressed reservations on including DI Khan and Tank in Saraiki province but it has agreed to make the Federally Administered Tribal Areas as part of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
