Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani on Saturday ruled out a joint operation in North Waziristan Agency in sync with foreign forces, saying Pakistani forces would conduct the operation according to their own will and ease. Talking to reporters after attending a ceremony held in connection with Defense Day on Saturday, Gen Kayani noted he had already clarified his stance in his statement given with regard to the operation in North Waziristan, saying, “We will undertake the operation in North Waziristan on lines to be set by us.”
“Also, it is we who will specify the operation’s other details, including time,” he maintained. Gen Kayani said assumption-based reports being churned out by the foreign media could not be relied upon.
Vowing to continue military’s cooperation in the anti-terror war, the COAS said Pakistan would not conduct a joint operation in concert with foreign forces.
