Advocate Javed Iqbal Jafri filed a petition in the Lahore High court on August 30 in which he requested the court to direct Punjab Government to restore the holy places of Hindu community in Lahore. Jafri argued that protecting the rights of minorities was the constitutional duty of the government. “Many temples in the city, including the famous Jain Mandar, have been demolished and illegally occupied by the land mafia,” he said. The lawyer appealed to the court to direct the government to free the temples from illegal occupation by the land mafia(s).
