‘4,498 students in Punjab benefit from Zakat’

Provincial Zakat Council has given approval to release funds worth Rs.6, 74, 78,000/- for the deserving students enrolled in technical training institutions of 13 districts of the province. 4498 students will benefit from this facility.
This decision was taken during 141st meeting of Provincial Zakat Council held under the chairmanship of Provincial Secretary for Zakat & Ushr, Capt. (Retd) Jehanzeb Khan. Administrator Zakat Punjab Muhammad Yousuf Butt, Deputy Administrator Zakat (Field) Rana Muhammad Sajjad Babar, representatives of Finance, Social Welfare and Local Government departments were present on the occasion. The meeting was informed that approval has been given to release Rs.1,42,45,966 for under training students in technical training institutions of district Lahore, Rs.84,05,403 are allotted for those in district Sargodha, Rs.44,13,412 for Rahim Yar Khan, Rs.28,55,697 for Khushab, Rs.58,11,570 for Sahiwal, Rs.36,94,673 for Lodhran, Rs.34,16,973 for Chakwal, Rs.41,50,658 for Bahawalnagar, Rs.33,31,511 for Mianwali, Rs.31,80,909 for Nankana Sahib, Rs.35,34,346 for Layyah, Rs.38,10,529 for Faisalabad and Rs.26,26,377 for Hafizabad.
The meeting also approved the payment of Rs.20, 42, 28,000 to the Mustahqeen-e- Zakat as special allowance for Eid and verified the payment of Rs.5, 00, 14,700 as salary for July and August 2012 to the staff of Zakat department. With regard to the ongoing anti-dengue campaign of Punjab government, the Provincial Zakat Council instructed all district Zakat committees of the province to brief the local Zakat committees on dengue preventive measures and ensure their cooperation in this regard.
The meeting was alos attended by Hafiz Zubair Ahmed zaheer, Khawaja Abdul Qayyum and Tayyaba Zameer.
