Ukraine interested in Sindh’s economic development

The Ambassador of Ukraine, Volodymyr Lakomov, Friday called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House here.
He was accompanied by the First Secretary of Ukraine, Andrey Romanenkov, Honorary Consul General, Engineer MA Jabbar, and Director Pak-Ukraine Business Council, Farooq Afzal. Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon was also present.
The chief minister welcomed the Ambassador of Ukraine and informed him about the detailed performance, economic aspects and progress in development schemes.
He further stated that after 18th amendment in the constitution, the provinces can directly negotiate and make agreements with foreign countries aimed at progress and prosperity of the country.
Citing example of Korean Company, Syed said that dual carriage way between Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas is of the project completed under public private partnership mode. He said that there is a need of cooperation from Ukraine for agriculture and industrial sectors.
The chief minister said that for redressal of problems pertaining to economic development, there is need of mutual cooperation.
He stressed that working paper could be prepared for various aspects including coal mining and power generation. Ambassador of Ukraine thanked for warm welcome and hospitality, and informed that the government of Ukraine and various private organization are interested in economic development of Sindh province.
He added that Ukraine had vast experience in coal mining and possesses huge machinery and the governments and private companies of both companies can take part in coal mining and power generation in Thar area.
He assured his full support for guidance and initiatives and informed the Chief Minister Sindh that there are Wind Turbine manufacturing factories in Ukraine and the same will be beneficial in wind corridor in coastal areas of Sindh.
He added that Ukraine is an agricultural country and the production/yield per acre is high there and the Agro-Science can be used on similar patterns in Sindh.
He also invited the chief minister to visit Ukraine and have negotiation for economic development for Sindh province. Later, the Chief Minister present traditional gifts of Khais, Ajrak and Sindh Caps to Ukraine delegation.
