The US should forget about Dr Shakeel Afridi as it is a closed subject now, ISI Director General Zaheerul Islam said on Friday, Geo News reported. According to the channel, Gen Zaheer said the Pakistani authorities were not considering any proposal to seek the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from US custody in exchange with Dr Shakeel Afridi. The ISI DG said that his visit to the US had been positive and there was improvement in relations with the CIA. He also said that there was no confirmation about the death of Badruddin Haqqani in a drone strike in North Waziristan Agency. Meanwhile, a senior security official told Pakistan Today that Gen Zaheer’s statement had been taken out of context by some reporters.
