China will encourage and promote maximum media exchanges with Pakistan and other neighboring countries to bring their people more closer to each other and to work together for strengthening mutually beneficial cooperative partnership at all levels.
This was stated by Wang Guoqing, Vice Minister of the State Council Information office while addressing China-Eurasia Expo Media Forum that was held here on Saturday.
The forum was attended by journalists from regional countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkey, besides local Chinese media representatives. It was also addressed by Hu Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Xinxiang Autonomous Region.
Wang noted that the State Council Information Office of China has recently signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening of media exchange and cooperation with Pakistan. This arrangement was going on successfully, he added.
The forum was specially organized on the occasion of 2nd China Eurasia Expo in order to actively involve the media persons in projecting the common economic interest. He hoped that the media will play its role in creating awareness among the people about excising economic potential and opportunities to enhance trade and investment among the respective countries.
China in recent years has increased its close contacts with the relevant counties in region in media and cultural fields, which helped to achieve the desired progress.
Since last year, China has organized comprehensive cultural exchange activities with its neighboring countries including Pakistan. He emphasized that the media must have the courage to undertake the due social responsibility making effective contribution to safeguarding the development and stability of countries in the region.
Wang was of the view that the dissemination of vulgar, violence, terrorism, racial discrimination and other harmful information has formed a serious threat to the health development of new media. China is one of the countries which have seen the rapidest development and penetration of new media, based on internet.
He also called for expanding the scope of exchange and cooperation at the media level. This cooperation should be carried out on regular basis and it should help to project the events and development in the region in their true perspective. The media’s role must be beneficial for their people as well as promoting peace and stability in the region as whole.
