Zardari strengthened democracy: Jam Mehtab

Provincial Minister for Revenue Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said those who are making fuss before the next general elections are the same who intend to rig in the coming elections.
He added media and judiciary are free. The allegation regarding distributing of secretariat funds to media men was quite baseless and a part of propaganda campaign against the elected democratic government.
He said this while talking to media men here at his office on Wednesday. He said due to policies of President Asif Ali Zardari, democracy had got strengthened in the country and strong democracy is a guarantee to the prosperity of the nation and country. He said, ‘strong democracy is helping in eradicating extremism and terrorism. Waseela-e-Haq and Benazir Income Support Program are reducing poverty in the country’.
Replying to a question he said that President Asif Ali Zardari was an undisputed President of the country and he was the president of 18 crore people. The provincial minister added: ‘Nawaz Sharif has adopted illogical approach towards formation of new provinces. Sharif brothers should pay attention towards plight of Punjab and eradication of crimes in Punjab instead of criticizing present democratic government’.
He said that all political parities should forget their differences and should work together to eradicate extremism and terrorism in the country. They should prepare for coming elections. Election would be impartial and transparent.
PPP workers directed to limit activities: After a fresh wave of attacks on activists of all key political parties including Pakistan Peoples Party and others, the ruling party has directed its worker to halt socio-political activities in the city.
At least seven political workers have been killed in recent targeted assaults. PPP and ANP offices have been attacked by miscreants in different areas of the metropolis over the past 48 hours.
“Feeling the sense of insecurity among party workers, we have directed them to restrain from unnecessary political activities and avoid sitting outside their houses, at hotels and public places,” PPP’s provincial General Secretary, Taj Haider said.
He expressed his concerns over the fresh wave of violence in the city.
When asked whether the ruling party failed to provide security even to its own workers, Haider said “policemen could not be posted with every single PPP worker.”He said the IG Sindh police has disclosed that 30 percent terrorists and criminals have been recruited in the police force under political influence.
New provinces’ issue should be left for new assemblies: Shaikh: Special Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Education Imtiaz Shaikh has said that the issue of creation of new provinces has become complex and controversial, adding it should be left for next assemblies.
At a news conference at Sindh Secretariat here on Wednesday, the advisor said that current assemblies should focus on holding elections.
Imtiaz Shaikh welcomed the joining of labour leaders in Pakistan Muslim League-Functional.
He said that they support formation of new provinces on administrative basis, however added that current situation prevailing in the country is not suitable for it.
