President Asif Ali Zardari met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit underway here.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 16th NAM summit and is the second meeting between the two leaders this year. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the region during their meeting.
President Zardari and Indian PM Singh also agreed to take concrete steps to improve relations between the two countries.
Dr Singh had last met Zardari in New Delhi in April this year when the Pakistani President made a private visit to India to pray at the Sufi shrine in Ajmer.
Indian officials have said that terror was high on the agenda and India’s continuing concerns over lack of action against those in Pakistan believed to have been actively involved in 2008 Mumbai attack will be flagged by Dr Singh.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto accompanied President Zardari during the meeting while Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was accompanied by External Affairs Minister SM Krishna.
Earlier today, President Zardari attended the NAM meeting with all other heads of NAM member countries.
It is expected that President Zardari will also meet his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai in Tehran any time soon.
