UC Sohan’s residents flay illegal toll tax

The residents of Kurri Road Pindorian of Union Council Sohan, falling under the jurisdiction of the capital district administration, have expressed concern over the illegal receipt of toll tax from locals. Talking to INP, the residents said that toll tax was illegally being collected from them at entry and exit. They said that staff at the plaza had been charging Rs10 from rickshaws and vans, Rs 20 from taxis and tractors and Rs30 from dumper machines and trucks. People are seen quarrelling with the toll tax staff over the receipt of illegal toll tax from them on daily basis. They further said that under the law only National Highway Authority has the right to collect toll tax from the vehicles using the highways, and there is no other example of receiving toll tax from locals elsewhere in the country.
