British cyclist Philip Hindes, who won gold at the London Olympics, has had his bike stolen during a burglary at his home, police said Wednesday.
Hindes, who topped the winner’s podium in the men’s team sprint at London 2012 alongside Jason Kenny and Chris Hoy, had used the red, white and blue Pinarello Paris bicycle for training.
Police said it was not the bike which the 20-year-old rode when he won his Olympic medal.
The bike was was taken along with Hindes’ blue Volkswagen Golf in a raid on his home near Manchester, north-west England, at some point between August 23 and August 26. Thieves smashed through patio doors and ransacked the house, which was unoccupied at the time of the burglary, while Hindes’ car was later found burnt out by police.
