Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has constituted a four-member committee headed by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to look into the case of Dr Afia Siddiqui, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday. The prime minister took the decision in a meeting with Ramsey Clark, former Attorney General of United States, and Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, the sister of Dr Afia.
Other members of the committee include ministers for law, interior and human rights. The meeting discussed at length matters relating to Dr Afia Siddiqui, who is incarcerated in the United States.
The prime minister told Dr Fauzia that he understood the agony of her family, and assured her of all possible assistance, the statement said.
