Nawaz meets Hoagland, seeks end to drone attacks

The acting US Ambassador Richard Hoagland and US Counsel General Nina Marya called on the chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif here on Wednesday.
During the meeting which was attended by senior leaders of the N-League, Nawaz Sharif informed the US acting Ambassador Richard Hoagland about the disadvantages and unpopular US drone strikes in the tribal region and demanded of the US government to stop the US drone strikes which is the major source of spreading anti-Americanism in Pakistan.
The N-League leadership and the US diplomats discussed various current major issues including the war on terror and Pak-US relationship. Nawaz Sharif demanded of the US to respect the sovereignty of Pakistan.
Nawaz informed the US envoy that US drone strikes are spreading hatred among the Pakistani nationals against the US, demanding that US drone strikes must be ended in the bordering areas of Pakistan.
Appreciating the sacrifices of the Pakistani security forces and nationals in the war on terror, the US envoy said that US will extend complete help to Pakistan in war on terror, adding that US will support the democratic system in Pakistan.
Richard Hoagland said that US administration will be conveyed the concern of the N-League leadership.
