It isn’t easy being an A-list star. Emraan Hashmi, who is now considered one of Bollywood’s leading actors, is slowly and steadily achieving it all — numerous films, advertising projects and appreciation from the critics. But this success is beginning to cost him his health. “Emraan has
had to go through tremendous physical transformations in the last few years for films like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010), Murder 2 (2011), The Dirty Picture (2011), Jannat 2 and Shanghai,” says a source close to the actor. And now, for his forthcoming films, he will have two different looks — a ripped physique for the Vidya Balan-starrer Ghanchakkar and a bulky form for Karan Johar’s Ungli.
Says Emraan, “Since I have two distinct looks for those films, I have to transform my physique every now and then.” Apparently, during a shooting schedule of Ghanchakkar, director Rajkumar Gupta had asked Emraan to lose a lot of the muscle that he had put on for his upcoming film, Raaz 3. “His health has been suffering. There is a limit to how much a person’s body can handle. And he has been juggling various diets and intensive exercise regimens. His health is definitely getting affected,” adds the source.
To make matters worse, Emraan is also swamped with the promotional activities of Raaz 3, which releases on September 7. As a result, he has not been able to rest. “I also have really hectic shooting schedules… all that is happening is kind of crazy,” says the actor.
Shanghai in Toronto: Meanwhile, Emraan is thrilled about the fact that his recent release, Shanghai, is headed to the Toronto Film festival. “I am very happy. Dibakar (Banerjee, director) has made a gem of a film. Audiences will recognise my work and it will add to my brand value. Acclaim is always welcome.”
