Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the police have been provided with all sorts of resources and now he wants them to show results.
While presiding over a law and order meeting in Model Town, the CM ordered the recruitment of 4,000 retired soldiers on contract basis for combating crimes in the city and deployment of police on the roads and streets in residential colonies to control street crimes.
The CM said that the law and order situation could not be improved without eradicating terrorism and extremism from the society.
He had also ordered officials concerned to take effective measures to control the incidents of extortions in the city.
The chief minister asked the secretary prosecution to submit a weekly report about the expeditious prosecution of the accused persons under arrest and demanded that a comprehensive program should be chalked out for disposing off the old pending cases.
