Many areas of India’s Rajasthan along the international border with Pakistan are receiving signals of Pakistani mobile companies up to of 15-20 kilometers inside the Indian territory.
According to a report published in The Times of India on Monday, smugglers and spies of Jaisalmer and Barmer using Pakistan SIM cards give strategic and confidential information of the country to Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.
According to the international rules in telecom sector, mobile network of any country can go up to 500 meters of the borders of the other country. Pakistan is openly violating international law, as the signals are causing a hole in the country’s security and is proving to be a security threat, the paper reported. Quoting reliable sources, the paper said Pakistan had set up over three dozen new mobile towers near the international border adjoining Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Ganganagar and Barmer in Rajasthan. The signals of these mobile towers are being received up to 15-20kms inside the Indian territory, which was becoming a threat to the security of India. The signals of Pakistani mobile companies were enabling smugglers and spies operating in the area. There is no facility of scanning of passengers coming by Thar Express at Munabao railway station.
The paper quoted its sources as saying that there had been information that a few old smugglers in Longewala, Ghotaru and Ramgarh area in Jaisalmer district climbed old towers or went to higher ground to use Pakistani SIMs for sending Indian confidential information to Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. The report further said Pakistan had installed mobile towers opposite Rajasthan border at Khokharapar, Chacharo, Jumantar, Mubarka Fort Abbas, Mantharbanglo, Mandi Sadiikganj, Minchandabad, Bahawal Nagar, Dungabunga, Haroonabad, Fakirewanar, Hasilpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mandi Sadi Mangal, Gabbar Kehju and Sadiqabad.
The telecom companies whose mobile signals are reaching India are Veridatel, Oasis Pak, Telenor, PKPL, Pak Pal Mobiling, U-phone, PT Soral and Hutch. Confirming the signals reaching India, Jaisalmer telecom officer Yogesh Bhaskar said as it was an international matter, it would be solved at a higher level.

  1. Mijhay samajh nae aati kay how can this smuggling take place between Pak-Ind border.

If any one has visited the boarder, its all fenced and lit with huge flood lights by Indians. There is no entry/exit through the huge gates in that fence without Indian BSF approval. Thn how can anyone cross the boarder without Indian permission. If there is any smuggling going on it is just and only because Indian BSF supports it. This mobile signals coverage issue has nothing to do with smuggling if BSF and India don't support it.
