Senate body seeks action against SSCG GM for calling Baloch ‘thieves’

The Senate Standing Committee for Privileges Monday directs the Petroleum Ministry to take administrative action against the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Balochistan general manager for saying Baloch people as thieves and misbehaving with Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri.
A meeting of the Senate standing committee was held in the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi. The meeting reviewed the privilege motion filed by Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri against the impolite behavior of Managing Director (MD) and the general manager of SSGC Balochistan.
On this occasion, GM SSGC Balochistan Haroon-ur-Rasheed admitted that he had called Baloch people as thieves before Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
The chairman of the committee held that the privileges of Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and the Baloch people were breached. SSGC Balochistan MD Azeem Siddiqui apologized unconditionally. The chairman of the committee directed the Petroleum Ministry to take administrative action against the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Balochistan general manager for calling Baloch people as thieves and misbehaving with Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
Member of the Committee Senator Afrasyab Khattak said that as the gas is produced in Balochistan, so the gas should be supplied to the locals of the province.
He added that sector of gas should be dissolved to provinces according to the 18th amendment.
