Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday said the PPP had always respected the judiciary, as its workers had never attacked the Supreme Court like others. Talking to a private news channel, the interior minister said the apex court’s orders would be implemented in accordance with the law. He said the PPP was ready to render sacrifices for democracy. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Faheem told a private TV channel that the prime minister would not be disqualified under the constitution.
He said under Articles 12 and 13 of the constitution, punishment could not be given twice. He said, “We respect the judiciary, while respecting the constitution is mandatory for every Pakistani.” To a question, Faheem said his party would follow the directives of the Supreme Court, even if they were against them.
